Her ancestral home is Kaiping, Guangdong, graduated from the Department of Journalism at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1972. In 1974, she was awarded a scholarship by the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii to pursue a master’s degree in Educational Communications. She returned to Hong Kong in 1976 to work in the media and joined the Educational Media Production Service at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in the same year, where she worked until her retirement.
In 1987, under the guidance of Mr. Li Ze Wen (李澤文), she studied freehand ink painting and calligraphy. The following year, her work was successfully selected for the annual art competition organized by the Philippe Charriol Foundation and was auctioned at a charity fundraising event for a commendable price. Between 1989 and 1996, she held five solo exhibitions in mainland China and Hong Kong and published three art books.
